If you follow the news about Haiti, you’re sure to have heard about the increasing instability, difficulty with gangs, fuel shortages and inflation. While Haiti seems rough right now, it’s not all that different from other places in the world facing divisiveness, uncertainty, inflation and increased fuel prices. We can bemoan the situation, predict dire consequences and fret away our days, or we can lift our eyes.
Remember that this is not our home, none of this is a surprise to God, and no matter how things change, our Lord is unchanging. Our comfort is found when we trust that God is in control. I often have to remind myself that God created the Heavens and the Earth entirely without my input.
