Les Petits Genies

Rebecca is a trained nurse, seamstress, and teacher in Croix des Bouquets Haiti that saw a need in her neighborhood. The children there did not have access to affordable school. Rebecca, the daughter of a local pastor, started working with a small group of children. She taught them letters , numbers, colors, and other basic information that their parents could not. As word spread about the work she was doing, more parents brought their children to her for help. The church her father pastors allowed her to use a small building to work with the children. Eventually she formalized the arrangement and was awarded legal recognition as an official school for kindergarten and elementary age children.

Rebecca has more than 80 children attending the school. She provides snacks and water to fill bellies so minds can be filled. Rebecca charges the equivalent of $3.37 per month per student. She also does not turn away children who cannot pay.

She has very limited supplies of educational materials, but an unlimited amount of joy in her heart. She does everything in her power to help the neighborhood children build a better future by laying a strong foundation.
